  • Les ouvrages de franchissement du prolongement ouest du Trans-Val-de-Marne

    Hautecouverture M.
    In : Travaux, mars 07, n° 839, p. 36-37.
The extension of the Trans Val de Marne until Croix-de-Berny, which commissioning starts in 2007, should allow the improvement of the network of collective transport between the suburban cities of Paris. This additional alignment required the construction of two bridges to cross the highways A106 and A86/RN186. The A106 bridge is a composite structure with a all-steal deck 185 m long. The second bridge 120 m long is a diversified structure with a composite floor joists bridge, a composite bridge and a portal frame. These two very different working designs led to delicate building sites in urban areas and above highways with massive traffic.

    Croiset J E, Ryckaert J, Spielmann A, Viel G.
    In : Travaux n°823, 01/10/05, p. 110-116.
The Grande Ravine Viaduct passes over breach which is 320m wide at the ground level and 170 m deep. The bridge consists of a 288 m orthotropic deck, pinned on two struts made out of high performance prestressed concrete, with a 20º angle with the horizontal. The deck is launched from the two sides of the breach. The struts are fixed at the bottom on counterbalancing abutments, and they are hold at the top by post-tension cables situated outside the deck. The abutments have superficial foundations at the back under the counter-weight, and profound foundation at the front. This is a specific structure, due to the construction sequence, the structural behaviour, which is different before and after the keying, and also due to the temporary and permanent ties. In the end, it is a bridge with limited and controlled arch effect.

  • Pont sur la Vienne
    Mellier E, Galland M.
    In : Bulletin annuel de l'AFGC n°7, 01/01/2005, p. 35-52.
Situated in Limoges, this 165 m long bridge, made out of reinforced and prestressed concrete, is composed of 2 independent prestressed concrete girders supported by 2 reinforced concrete arches, 2 portal legs and a pier. The arches are sitting on concrete foundations via steel bearings.
Pre-fabricated concrete beams are set on those two girders and create the deck structure. Precast concrete slabs are set on this structure, and a final grouting finishes the deck. The architect is Charles Lavigne. Setec TPI provided the detailed construction documents.
  • Remplacement de la suspension du pont d'Aquitaine : les études
    Ryckaert J, Croiset J E, Rouvillain F, Sorensen O.
    In : Travaux n°813, 01/11/2004, p. 25-33.
After checkout of the Aquitaine Bridge suspenders, the corrosion of the suspension system was detected and the decision of replacing it was made. After a call for tenders, the consortium Setec TPI - Cowi A/S was charged with the preliminary design, the design development, the shop drawings checks. Along with the replacement of he suspension system, the deck was widened.
  • Pont de l'Europe sur la Loire à Orléans
    Lothaire A, Duchêne Y, Cespedes X, Datry J B.
    In : Ponts Métalliques n°22, 01/12/2003, p. 60-83.
The Europe Bridge, in Orléans, is a bridge with a single offset arch supporting an all steel orthotropic. The arch is inclined towards the outside and supports the deck with two planes of inclined suspenders. It is a trapezoidal hollow box and bears upon concrete piers composed of three-branch tripods. The deck is a hollow box with the under surface rounded. It is composed of two hollow box girders linked with diaphragms and trusses.
For manufacturing and assembling, vertical, horizontal and torsion camber was taken into account. The deck was launched on temporary bents and with a launching nose. Specific studies were carried out for global and local checks under service load, launching load, and under dynamic effects
of wind. The bridge is 378 m long total, with a 200 m central span.

In December 1998, the district of the Nantes conurbation launched a competition for the architectural and engineering design of a new footbridge over the Loire, between the Gaston Michel Street northward and the Nantes island southward. This footbridge is located in front of the new Law Courts, whose architect is Jean Nouvel. The design team, composed of Setec TPI as structural engineer and representative, and Bernard and Clotilde Barto
as architects, was chosen thanks to a project of movable bridge whose movements follows the tides.

The AFGC set up on the 24th of April a visit of the site of the Orléans bridge. The half-day, with about sixty participants, started with a series of five talks about the project and the building systems, and went on with the visit of the site. Topics of the talks : - Project design (by A. Bourrat, Bureau Calatrava) - Project studies (by JB Datry, SETEC TPI) - Allocations of construction works and organisation of the project management (by J. Lefèvre, DDE du Loiret) - Civil engineering works (by J.P. Pauliac, Entreprise Chantiers Modernes) - Manufacture and erection of the steel parts (by W.Hoeckman, Victor Buyck Steel Construction)

The viaduct is a pre-stressed concrete box girder, 540 m long and 19.56 m wide, spreading on 6 spans, with one 132 m span. Built in 26 months with the method of cantilevering successive segments, the construction had to cope with difficult conditions in a protected natural site.
